Keeping me entertained

So after all this tick stuff over the last few days the instruction from the vet is… No running or jumping. Oh seriously!!!

Yes I like to nap but that usually comes after a morning run and a couple of times a week doing agility training or heading to the beach or park for a run. This resting thing only really occurs once I have expended all energy.

What happens when I am bored is that I start acting a bit like a puppy and get into mischief (sorry toddler about your little toy pot plant thing).

So mum is coming up with games we can play… one of these is the 3 cups.

131031 Games (2)

Really easy to play so we took a little video so you can see how it goes… here it is.

Also works well with me only supposed to be eating small pieces of food at a time.

Ok back to naps now… have to prep for the kids coming around for Halloween night. Have to see if I can improve on last years efforts.

Nasty tick… I’m on the improve update

Today would normally be Training Tip Tuesday but given I am hanging out in a crate at SASH it doesn’t really feel like a training kinda day. At least they are putting me next to my mate Hawks. It is kinda fluky that we are here at the same time. His visit was planned with an op on his leg. We were even having a play on Sunday afternoon just before he had his dinner and headed down here. The staff here think it is cute that we are friends and are happy to keep us close as they can tell we recognise each other.

The update this morning is that after showing no symptoms for most of yesterday my gag reflex did falter yesterday afternoon. This is an early symptom so it was lucky that mum and the guys here at SASH had decided to keep me under observation for the full 24hrs (it can take up to 24hrs for symptoms to show). Once they spotted this I was given the tick serum and that seems to be working. I have been on IV since the whole gag reflex thing but am showing signs of improvement and they are hoping I will be able to have some water later today. After that I get to have some food… yeah!!!

If I keep making good progress than maybe home this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Looking forward to seeing my family.

Big paws up for all the lovely well wishes. I know they are helping mum as she is missing me. Also looking forward to getting all the pats, ear scratches and belly rubs that everyone has been promising once I am home and then after some rest back to all our usual activities.

Nasty tick…

Well this is a kinda strange 1st World Dog post as I’m currently hanging out at SASH (the small animal hospital and emergency vet). The lovely people here are looking after me because just before bed last night Dad found a paralysis tick on my neck. It was a big bugger too. He got it off but unsure if he got it all and because they are nasty mum then took me down here to SASH.

All a bit weird as it isn’t my lounge and miss my family (and know they are missing me too but hear toddler is doing a good job of protecting deck from birds… Good work toddler)

My mate Hawks is also here too. He came down a couple of hours earlier as he is having a pretty big operation on his leg today. See I really just wanted to keep him company. Here is a pic of me & Hawks from a recent trip to the park.

With the warm temps these nasty ticks are out and about. You find them by giving us lots of pats, just like dad did last night, and if you find one don’t delay in getting to treatment. They can be fatal.
If you want to read some more about them here is a link:

And a good write up from one of the local vets: http://www.pittwateranimalhospital.com.au/ticks.html

The guys here would prefer to keep me in atleast 24hrs so likely I will be keeping Hawks company again tonight.

Take care guys and see ya tmw… Licks licks Bods
