Super dog…. Protecting the world

Besides protecting the family from cats and birds I also protect them from other things that may come across our path.

Things that weren’t there the last time went past….

Things that are unknown….

Things that are known and just in a different spot to last time….

Did I mention what an awesome guard dog I am?
(When the family is about)

Oh did I mention I was protecting mum from a pile of newspapers…. Yeah yeah it wasn’t the issue that I featured in the other week.

Ok back to protecting the world.

It doesn’t always need to be a walk

Some mornings toddler wakes earlier or for whatever reason we can’t get out for a morning walk. Thankfully mum has an array of exercises for me to do rather than our walk. Check out some of them like Backwards Heel in Training Tip Tuesday.

Only need some treats and then a bit of creativity to come up with some games.

Cat Issues

Mum complaining that I pulled her shoulder this morning on our walk. Just trying to protect her from the vicious things.

Casper… I mean is that a spooky name or what…. Was just eyeing me off from the other side of the street. Yep white cat.

is an example of why I am suspicious of the neighbourhood cats.

Honestly mum I was just protecting you but I’m now just going to hide from them.

Birthday… 1st World Dog Style.

In case you missed it on all the other pieces of social media… It’s my 4th Birthday today!!!! Oh yeah it’s my birthday!!!

So what does a 1st World Dog do for his birthday I hear you ask… Well let me give you a run down….

Celebrate Birthday with my sibling. Yep there is 1st World Dog Sis. Now obviously I came into the world as part of a litter (ie there were a few of us pups) but once we were all old enough our new parents took us to our new homes and that is what yours truly has referred to as home ever since. Well jump back a few months and with the wonders of modern technology and a search of #spanador in Instagram we come across a dog that looks a lot like me. A couple of comments back and forth and discover it is my sis and she lives on the otherside of Sydney. So finally our mums get organised and we get to catch up the day before our birthdays….

A whole other post coming up on my sis soon. She rocks!

Then celebrate a bit more with my agility friends. Came home from meeting sis at the beach, quick zzzzz on lounge and then mum had organised a catch up with my agility friends. Did some funky moves including an absolutely rocking German turn which you can check on the video here.

Phew…. Big sleep and refresh the next morning with a delicious birthday bone for breakky.

Later in the day I head back to the beach with the boys… Love my posse…

Before coming home for a special birthday treat (mmmm…. Sneak peak at Foodie Friday for this week)

So that kids is how a 1st World Dog does his birthday…. Oh did I forget to mention I have a Bowen Massage booked for tmw. Yep Paws Up mum for spoiling me for my birthday.

Apologies for lack of posting yesterday. Blame mum… Work… Seriously mum…. Priorities.

So before we do Foodie Friday later on today (ohhh did someone say my Birthday Cake???? My birthday early next week!) thought we would share a quick little cartoon from the very funny Off The Leash… Appropriately about priorities.

1st World Dog Guide to Staying Cool

Phew it is a bit warm here in Sydney (and feeling for our blog readers in Melbourne and Adelaide… Stay Cool guys!). Besides putting on the sunnies to be ‘Super Cool’ as the toddler says, here are a couple of things mum & I do to stay cool in the heat that we thought we would share:

Why dogs are great at helping with New Years resolutions.

Humans are strange! Well they are strange for lots of reasons but the one that is top of mind at the moment is this New Years resolution business. They seem to pick this day called New Years Day (which doesn’t really seem all that different from any other day so they could have started this stuff weeks, if not months ago) and start trying to do something different.

For most humans this different stuff is usually trying to be healthier in some way. For mum it is getting out there running again. And that is where I come in!

I take no blame for the hiatus in running over recent weeks (hmmm months). However mum thinks my pulled muscle and couple of annoying ticks were reasons for mum not too run… Something to do with her not feeling like she could live the house for a run without me. So with us both being healthy at the moment we are off and running… Literally.

And here is 3 reasons (not that you ever need one) why dogs are great!
1. No need for an alarm clock. Get us dogs into a routine and we will be beside your bed nudging your elbow. Don’t move and we can jump onto the bed and stand on you and lick your face. Haven’t heard of any alarm clocks that offer that service.
2. We make you run. Walking we stop, sniff and pull on the lead. Running we are far more likely to run along beside keeping up with you. If you have the luxury of running somewhere off lead, we have a great trail near our house, than we like to run just in front. It is like we are your pace car.

3. We are always ready to go and never leave you waiting. Unlike trying to organise another human to run with (and never seen anyone run with a cat… Although mum claims she did see someone walking a snake (on lead) one day) us dogs never let you down. We love walks and runs so are never going to complain of a headache or a bone in our foot… We are always ready to go. You also don’t need to organise to meet us somewhere. Once there is movement towards what looks like a walk we are right there beside every move you make.

So this strange habit of New Years resolutions actually seem pretty good to me if it means we get out for a run. What about your humans… Have they made any of these strange resolutions?
So us dogs are not left out….Loving this list of resolutions from the guys over at 3 Lost Dogs

1st World Dog in the press

A couple of my mates and I had to be on best behavior earlier in the week for a photoshot for the local paper. They have published a story about our club Rally O trial that is on this weekend. Here’s this link.

The article does a pretty good job of giving a topline of what Rally O is all about. It is a fun way to do the Obedience stuff. The Rally-O stations are explained in the ANKC rules and even if you aren’t interested in trialling they are some fun exercises to practice and provide mental stimulation.

Now if we are going to do more of this celebrity stuff I am going to need to get back on the case of an agent. Should probably capture my paw print as a signature too…. Hmmm might speak to toddler about getting some paint out.
