Bubbles are not good for my coat

So I pop into the bathroom tonight when the toddler is having her bath. Just went in because mum was there and I wanted a pat. So I turn around for mum to scratch behind my ears and ‘wham’ I have bubbles all over my ear AND the toddler is giggling. You know it is going to be bad when the toddler is giggling. Yes if I wanted a pat I was going to need to be covered in bubbles. What do I do?
